TOP 10 TURN-ONS LIST: LISTENING

Over the next few weeks, we'll be counting down the top turn-ons of women worldwide.

#10 Listening. I realize that this one is very difficult, but listening is very highly correlated to scoring. Take a deep breath guys, you don't have to listen 100% of the time to get this one right. Just keep an ear open for a few things while you're going over fantasy football scenarios in your head. Your listening for two categories of things: 1) important events (i.e. test, presentation, promotion, birthday) 2. Things she really likes (music, authors, foods). For example, if I say I like a certain song and you make me a mixed CD of that band, that's hot. If I say that I'm going to have a very hard test tomorrow and you drop by with coffee or just call to wish me good luck, that's hot.

Here's a test to see if you were listening this whole time. Based on the following sample conversation, lets see if you can pick out the important points and determine what actions you would take to score with this hot girl:

Hot Girl: Yap yap yap yap. Yap yap yap yap yap yap work yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap new boss @#*! yap yap yap yap big presentation yap yap yap yap. Yap yap yap yyap yap yap. Anyway, yap yap yap yap yap yap great author yap yap yap yap has a new book coming out yap yap yap next week. Yap yap yap yap my best friend yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap bad breakup yap yap yap so sad yap yap so sad. Yap yap yap yap, are you even listening to me?

Answers: Based on the above conversation and key points made by the female, a clever guy might take any one of these actions to score the girl:

1. She says: 'I have to make a big presentation for my new boss.' In turn, you call her and offer to take her for a drink or dinner. Or, surprise her with a flower or card at her desk. Anything you can do to help de-stress and you'll make major ground.

2. She says: 'my favorite author is coming out with a new book next week.' Surprise her with the book. Or, if you're really into her, read it yourself. We really dig guys who show some form of interest in our interests.

3. She says: 'my best friend is going through a really bad break-up.' Next time you see her, ask how her friend is doing. Showing concern and kindness for our friends and especially remembering their names gets big points.

4. She says: 'are you even listening to me?' Take a quick trip to the Chicktionary (Your Guide to Understanding Chick Talk) for the answer to this one.

Paying attention to details also helps.

E.g. Oh so you have a new hairdo?

There should be an article about listening where you can't hear. I'm half-deaf and the two biggest problems I have in loud clubs and concerts are: 1. I couldn't hear her name even after the second time, so I have to find some other way to get it later. Usually I'm honest and direct about it somewhere quiet. 2. I can't even hear a single word, since she's yelling in my ear. I nod or smile and look for body language. How many times is it okay to ask her to repeat?
