What She Means:
This is called investigative questioning. She probably doesn't really care how the other girl is AT ALL. She probably wants to know the scoop on this girl because she's a) jealous b) extremely jealous, or c) you've given her a reason to be concerned (and jealous). Don't confuse this question for genuine concern or interest. To tackle this beast, brush off the question and focus on her underlying concerns. Say something like: 'She's OK, why do you ask?' Usually, a girl will get jealous because she thinks you're spending too much time or confiding in the other girl. Are you? If not, be clear that the other girl is a meaningless, homely, nobody that you'd sooner wipe your nose on than search for a tissue. Unless the other girl is you mom. That would be very uncool.

i say if it's an ex gf asking you this say " She's fucking great" this will make your ex jealous and possibly wanting you back. cause women think " i broke up with him therefore he should be feeling bad about it and note date other women for a while"

i say if a girl asks this she wants you to make her feel better and put her mind at ease and make her feel like the most important and special person in the world. a mans reply should be " i dunno, i don't really talk to her"

If this is a current girlfriend asking about your ex, she actually means "how close are you two now, and do you still have any feelings for her?".

I agree with tor, in that you want to reassure her in this case, but instead of saying you don't really talk to her, how about: As far as I know she's fine, but I'd rather talk about you, how are you doing? That way she knows she is more important to you.
